The header type high pressure feedwater heaters are mainly used in high capacity & parameter and peak shift power plant. The tube side parts mainly include feedwater inlet & outlet header and serpentines. In header type high pressure feedwater heaters, the thinner headers replace the channels and tubesheets of traditional U type high pressure feedwater heaters, and the serpentines are often bended to 3 passes in the shell. The shell side parts mainly include Steam inlet, drain outlet and shell.

Products are used in Qinyang 1000MW, Dongying 1000MW fossil fuel power plant.

Based on the external header type high pressure feedwater heater technology, SAP has done further independent innovations and optimizations, such as the researches and verifications in heat exchange performance, manufacture process and non-destructive test, and the design scheme has been approved by the expert review group. SAP has been constructed advanced design, manufacture, and Q&A system, which shows excellent competiveness in header type high pressure feedwater heater field.

1. Excellent thermoelastic

The thickness of header is 70~130mm, only 15% of tubesheet thickness, and the feedwater is distributed in inlet & outlet headers, which lowers the temperature difference stress during the heater running process, shows excellent thermoelastic, and thermal fatigue cracking will not occur.

2. Wide working condition range

Thermal gradient of header type high pressure feedwater heaters can reach 10K/min, which can allow more working condition shift times and meet the requirements of fast start & stop and frequent peak shift.

3. High reliability

The serpentines have many bends, which can absorb more thermal deformations in variable working conditions. According to the statistical data, more than 1200 header type high pressure feedwater heaters have been manufactured and the serpentines’ number has been more than 1 million. The failure rate is less than 0.0013%, 30 tubes failures occurred during the last 40 years, and first tube failure occurred after 20 years operation.
