In order to thoroughly implement China’s “dual carbon” strategy and accelerate the high-quality development of national-level zero-carbon parks, the launch ceremony for the Lin-gang “Zero-Carbon Bay” project, the first batch nationwide and the only pilot of its kind in Shanghai, was successfully held on May 21 in the Lin-gang Special Area of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone. As a core construction participant and co-applicant, Shanghai Electric took part in the event and demonstrated its full-chain zero-carbon solutions and industrial capabilities. Attending the ceremony were Yang Zhengwei, Executive Deputy Director of the Lin-gang Special Area Administrative Committee; Meng Xiangsheng, Vice President of Lingang Group; and Qiao Yinping, Chief Operating Officer of Shanghai Electric Group.

As a joint developer of Zero-Carbon Bay, Shanghai Electric has been deeply involved throughout the entire process of planning, application, design, and implementation. At the launch event, Shanghai Electric unveiled ten major application scenarios for zero-carbon parks, covering key areas such as green electricity direct supply and grid connection, carbon-energy management platforms, energy efficiency retrofitting, zero-carbon factories, green substitution of natural gas, and virtual power plant development. By integrating digitalization, green transformation, and industrialization, the company outlined a systematic and implementable decarbonization pathway for enterprises within the park, providing a replicable and verifiable technological framework to support the development of Zero-Carbon Bay.

At the same time, the Zero-Carbon Park Innovation Service Alliance was officially established. Jointly initiated by Shanghai Electric and Lingang Group, the alliance brings together a number of authoritative institutions, including State Grid Shanghai Municipal Electric Power Company, the Shanghai Energy Efficiency Center, the Shanghai Center for Energy Saving and Emission Reduction, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Shanghai University of Electric Power. Leveraging its strengths across the full industrial chain in energy equipment, integrated energy services, digital energy and carbon management, and energy-saving and carbon-reduction technologies, Shanghai Electric will coordinate with alliance partners to provide enterprises within the park with one-stop integrated services, including energy transition solutions, carbon asset management, energy-efficiency retrofits and resource recycling, jointly building an open, collaborative and highly empowering zero-carbon park ecosystem.

It will accelerate the implementation of ten major application scenarios, striving to build Zero-Carbon Bay into a benchmark zero-carbon park led by Shanghai and exemplary nationwide. Through new green and low-carbon growth drivers, Shanghai Electric aims to empower the high-quality development of advanced manufacturing and contribute its expertise to the zero-carbon transformation of industrial parks in Shanghai and across China.
